I'm an Aunt!

I FINALLY became an Aunt for the first time in December:) Chris' brother and his wife had a baby girl. Chris and I were asked to be co-Godparents along with my sister-in-law's brother and wife. We were thrilled. After discussing we decided that at least one of us should go to the baptism. I really wanted to go and I also wanted to bring both boys. In the end, I was nervous I would already be tempting fate flying into Chicago in January for a weekend. I decided to just bring Miles and have a fun mom/son weekend. It was fun. I could not believe how easy it was to fly with one 4 year old versus both boys. Plus, when you fly on Delta through Chicago you fly on a 747 which is really nice, even more so given that it was only about half full. I should also add, in case you don't believe in miracles, I prayed, hard, for a smooth trip. I was nervous about blizzards, cancelled flights, getting stranded, all that fun stuff that happens when you try to travel in the middle of winter. Giant blizzards struck before our trip and after but not during. Our flights were all precisely on time. Prayers answered, THANK YOU!

The baptism was wonderful and my niece is the cutest, sweetest, smartest little girl ever. It was so great that we were able to be there. During the service Miles stood in for Chris. He was even wearing Chris' first communion suit which I had altered a bit.

In addition to seeing Chris' family, my parents came down. I also fit in a visit with a college friend, a trip to Target, a trip to the mall, and we even took Miles to Medieval Times (he was enthralled the entire performance). It was a productive trip. It was super cute when Miles was watching the knights he kept turning to me and saying 'I wish James was here, I wish James could see this'. So sweet.

Being there to meet my niece was such a blessing. I also really enjoyed some alone time with Miles.
