From Pisa we drove inland to our villa that we rented for the week. The place was out in the country but closest to Cortona, of 'Under the Tuscan Sun' fame. We decided that for longer trips with kids in tow it is much better to rent a place rather than a hotel. That way kids have a place to rest and play, adults have a place to relax after kids go to bed, and we don't have to go out to eat all the time. Our place was perfect, the boys had their own rooms, we had tons of outdoor space to run plus a pool, a nice kitchen and dining room. Out in the country the views, sunsets, and stars were amazing. This definitely felt like a vacation.
